Two Women of the Diocese of Lafayette Enter Formation for the Order of Consecrated Virgins

The Diocese of Lafayette, Louisiana, is happy to announce the acceptance of candidates for Consecrated Virginity Lived in the World! Congratulations to Molly McCracken, sponsored by the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, LA, where she serves as Communications Director, and Amy Arton, sponsored by St. Nicholas Church in Lydia, LA.

The Order of Consecrated Virgins is the most ancient form of consecrated life for women in the church. Currently, in the Diocese of Lafayette, we have three consecrated virgins. Candidates of Consecrated Virginity Lived in the World are accepted after roughly one year of inquiry and discernment with the Office of Vocations and then enter a formal period of formation for approximately four years. Formation includes the traditional four dimensions of intellectual, spiritual, human, and apostolic mission to help one discern God’s will, respond to the call, and then live out this public state of life in the Church.

Learn more about the vocation of Consecrated Virginity here.

Please pray for these candidates during their formation and continue to pray for vocations in the Diocese of Lafayette!
